Abstract: |
The mechanical strengths of coal-based tubular microfiltration carbon membranes were modified and enhanced by means of adding carbon fiber and controlling the ratio of different coals. The results showed that the improvement of mechanical strengths was not obvious by adding carbon fiber in anthracite-based carbon membranes, but the mechanical strengths of carbon membranes could significantly be improved by adding some carbon fiber and caking coal in anthracite-based carbon membranes at the same time. The impact strength increased greatly and radial compressive strength decreased slightly with the increase of quantity of carbon fiber added in carbon membrane. The mechanical strengths of carbon membranes could also be improved obviously by controlling the ratio of different coals. The images of SEM indicated that addition of caking coal could improve the composite effect of carbon fiber and carbon membranes, and carbon fibers showed orientation distribution along with the length of carbon membrane |
