Preparation of poly ether imide(HQDEA-DMMDA)/fumed silica mixed matrix membrane and its permeation properties

Abstract:
 Poly ether imide(HQDEA-DMMDA) and hydrophobic fumed silica (TS-530) are used to prepare dense PEI/TS-530 mixed matrix membrane by casting method. The introduction of TS-530 can modify the chain packing of PEI/TS-530 and increase the gas permeabilities of H2, CH4, N2, O2 and CO2. With the increase of TS-530 content, the gas permeabilities and diffusion coefficients increase greatly, which deviates from the prediction of Maxwell model. The gas solubility coefficients depend on the ether oxygen groups and the adsorption of the polymer-particle interface. For PEI/TS-530 mixed matrix membranes with different TS-530 content, the selectivities of CO2/N2, CO2/CH4 and O2/N2 do not change obviously.
