Abstract:
The dielectric spectra of five kinds of organic-inorganic hybrid exchange membranes under the application of direct current bias(DC Bias) were studied over a frequence range of 40Hz-10MHz. The dielectric relaxation was not observed without DC bias, whereas when the DC bias was added, a distinct relaxation phenomenons were observed. This is attributed to concentration polarization layer nearby the membranes. The thickness of concentration polarization layer and conductance of solution were calculated by the dielectric model established by us earlier. According to the comparison of the results, the material of membrane, charge and swelling ratio of different ion-exchange membranes may have influence on the thickness of concentration polarization layer.
