Abstract:
High performance mordenite zeolite membranes were fabricated on the four-channel hollow fiber with thin wall and high loading density by secondary growth method. Effects of synthesis solution composition, synthesis temperature and crystallization time on the quality of membranes were investigated. The results showed that high performance mordenite membrane was synthesized at 170 °C for 16 h with the ratio of K2O/SiO2 being 0.08. The permeation flux and separation factor of the membrane used for dehydration of 90 wt.% ethanol/water solution was about 1.05 kg·m-2·h-1, 3374, respectively. The effects of operating temperature and water content in the feed on mordenite membrane were also investigated. Meanwhile, the good pervaporation results of membrane were also achieved for dehydration of methanol/water, isopropanol/water and acetic acid/water system. The permeation flux and separation factor of the membrane used for dehydration of 90 wt.% isopropanol/water solution was about 1.45 kg·m-2·h-1, 6963, respectively. In addition, mordenite zeolite membrane could keep stable for dehydration of 90 wt.% acetic acid/water mixture during a long time test, which demonstrated that it had good acid resistance.
