Abstract:
Design and fabrication of high alkaline stability and high ionic conductivity of anion exchange membranes are one of the frontier and hot research areas of fuel cells in recent years. A new research program is proposed, which mainly focuses on molecule synthesis to design and prepare a series of perfluorinated cationic polymers and their AEMs, including linear-quaternary-ammonium, cyclic-morpholine and imidazole-functionalized cationic polymers were successfully synthesized by incorporation of excellent stability fluorine atoms in the polymer main chain and utilization the pendant groups to attach various functional groups. The resulted AEMs displayed the high conductivity of 60.4~80.6 mS/cm at 80 ?C in water. Additionally, linear-quaternary-ammonium membrane exhibited good hydroxide conductivity of 80.6 mS/cm at 80 °C and excellent dimensional stability in water. Moreover, the membrane maintained 92.7% IEC and 93.2% hydroxide conductivity value after immersion in 8 M KOH at 80 °C over ten days and exhibits good alkaline stability.
